Opera Western Reserve to Present La Boheme
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Opera Western Reserve will celebrate its 10th year by presenting Giacomo Puccini's most popular and melodic opera, La Boheme at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in Stambaugh Auditorium.
The company of more than 60 will sing the work in Italian but there will be English subtitles.
Music director Susan Davenny Wyner will lead the opera.
David Vosburgh is in charge of state direction and scenic design, Hae-Jong Lee is chorus master, and Barbara Luce of the Costume Kingdom is responsible for costume design. Hair and make-up design is by Linda Leith and Robert Matthews of Salon Stefano.
Soprano Marian Vogel and tenor Alex Richardson, 2011's Tosca and Cavaradossi, return to sing the roles of the lovers, Mimi and Rodolfo. Also returning are baritones Michael Young as Marcello and Jason Budd as Colline. Making their debuts at Stambaugh are Lauren Frey as Musetta and Joel Herold as Schaunard. Robert Pierce, Young Artists team leader of the opera company, will sing the combined roles of Benoit and Alcindoro.
A dinner to he held before the performance will be hosted by the Stambaugh Pillars. Dinner reservations can be made and tickets reserved by calling the Stambaugh Auditorium box office at 330 259 0555. Onsite parking is free.
