Historical Society Seeks Nominations for Preservation Awards
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The seventh annual Historic Preservation Awards program in 2012 will honor those in the Mahoning Valley who take an active role in preserving historic buildings, sites, and districts. The program is sponsored by the Historic Preservation Committee of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society Board of Trustees.
Historic preservation projects in Trumbull and Mahoning Counties are eligible for recognition in appropriate categories, said Leann Rich, manager of education and external relations for the society. Award winners will be announced during Historic Preservation Week in May and recognized by the members of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society at the annual meeting in June.
A brochure containing all awards program criteria and an application form is available; completed nominations are due by April 6. For more information, call 330 743 2589.
Founded in 1875, the Mahoning Valley Historical Society educates and promotes an interest in the history of the Mahoning Valley by collecting, preserving and developing material representative of the people who have inhabited the region.
