Cortland Library Opens in New Building June 9
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Cortland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will open June 9 in its new building at 578 Lakeview Drive. The library formerly was located in a building on High Street.
Construction of the new 10,636-square-foot building began in late August of last year, officials said. Features of the new building include a dedicated youth programming area for storytimes and special programs; meeting room that will accommodate up to 40 people, space to increase the number of public computers from five to 12; space to increase the number of parking spaces from 32 to 80; and an energy efficient geothermal heating/cooling system.
Grand-opening activities on June 9 will include steel drum music at noon by Panyard, a children’s storytime at 2 p.m., self-guided tours and light refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Cortland Library. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m., the library will be open from noon to 5 p.m.
Beginning June 11, the library’s new expanded hours will be: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; The library will be closed Sunday.
