Cookie Table & Cocktails Event Set for Feb. 7
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The third annual Cookie Table & Cocktails fundraiser for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society will take place Feb. 7 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center downtown. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Campaign for the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center.
Amateur and professional bakers will share their confections on the cookie table, which will feature mini cannolis, assorted pizzelles, buckeyes, clothespins, nut kipfels, chocolate marshmallow brownies, caramel tarts and lemon tassies. The cookies will be judged and bakers will be awarded prizes in several categories which include Best Unexpected Ingredient and Best Twist on an Old Tradition.
Upwards of 4,000 cookies will be displayed. Bakers are still being recruited for the event, both amateur and professional. Bakers who donate cookies will receive a free ticket to the event. A registration form is available at the MVHS website.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Jimmy McClellan and Rich Yocum. Items in the silent auction will include personal tours led by Bill Lawson, MVHS director; an Idora Park presentation by author Rick Shale; photo prints and books from the historical society; and a basket from Modern Office products.
The title sponsor for the event is The Waypoint Group of Morgan Stanley in Canfield. “My business partner Jeff Barone and I wanted to support this event because we strongly believe in the organization’s mission -- and the cookies are fantastic,” says Scott Zoldan, first vice president and branch manager.
Other sponsors include WKBN, Covelli Enterprises, Rulli Brothers Markets, WYSU-FM and The Business Journal.
Tickets for the event are $45 per person and can be purchased by calling 330 743 2589.
