Cruze Drives Valley Car Sales to a Faster Pace
Tuesday, June 11, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Area auto dealers sold 259 more new cars and trucks in May than they did a year earlier, led by the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze, the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio reported.
Dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana sold 2,347 new vehicles in May, up from 2,088 in May 2012. Year-to-date through May, new vehicle sales total 11,417, up 1,480 from the 9,937 during the first five months of 2012.

Cleveland Area CFOs Not in Hiring Mode
Tuesday, June 11, 2013CLEVELAND -- Only 9% of chief financial officers in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area expect to add new professional-level positions in the third quarter. Seventy percent say they'll hire only for roles that open during the next three months.
Another 16% won't be hiring, even to fill an open position, according to the Cleveland Professional Employment Forecast from Robert Half.

Brown Unveils Legislation to Combat Cell Phone Theft

A 2011 graduate of Youngstown State University, Oles, who lives in Cornersburg, told how she a cheerleading at a YSU basketball game a couple years ago, when she returned to her gym bag only to discover that her cellular phone was missing. After searching in the bleachers and up and down the rows in Beeghly Center, she concluded it had been stolen.

Cubbison Co. Acquires Drake Industries of Texas
Monday, June 10, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Cubbison Co., 380 Victoria Road, Austintown, a maker of durable engineered products, has acquired Drake Industries Inc. of Austin, Texas, the president of Cubbison, Tim Merrifield, announced last week.
Terms were not disclosed.
Cubbison, which describes itself as in the “graphic product identification and printed electronic fields,” sees the acquisition of Drake Labels as helping it meet growing customer demand.
Drake, which does business as Drake Labels, will retain its name, a spokeswoman for Cubbison said.
Brown to Announce Plan to Combat Cell Phone Theft
Monday, June 10, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown will outline a plan to combat cell phone theft during a press event at the Youngstown Police Department today.
Brown, D-Ohio, be joined by Youngstown City Police Capt. Jason Simon, commander of the services division, and Cassie Mosure-Oles, a recent YSU graduate who had her phone stolen while cheerleading a Penguins game at YSU’s Beeghly Center. Cell phone thefts are on the rise and a stolen iPhone can cost up to $849 to replace, according to the Pew Research Center.
