Vexfest Returns Aug. 11, Seeks Performers
Monday, June 24, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Returning to the downtown Aug. 11, VexFest will offer a festival of eclectic music, food, vending and beverages, reports its organizer, Dan Crump.
This year marks the ninth such festival of music and the arts. It will feature local and touring acts who play all day before an audience that in years past has numbered more than 7,000 fans, according to Crump.
VexFest 9 is bringing back the two-stage set-up, and the festival is free.
Commission Upholds Order to Revoke D&L Permits
Friday, June 21, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The state's oil and gas commission has denied an appeal by D&L Energy and upheld an earlier order issued by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' chief to revoke the company's six operating permits.
D&L's permits were revoked in February after it was discovered that on Jan. 31 an employee from a related company, Hardrock Excavating, was found intentionally dumping contaminated wastewater from drilling operations down a storm drain on D&L's property.

Ohio Unemployment Holds at 7% in May

Microchip Technology Buys Novocell Semiconductor
Friday, June 21, 2013HERMITAGE, Pa. – The acquisition of Novocell Semiconductor Inc. will provide the company more resources for continued product development, its president and chief technology officer maintains.
Housed at the eCenter@LindenPointe technology incubator, Novocell was purchased by Microchip Technology Inc. through its Silicon Storage Technology subsidiary. The deal was announced earlier this month at the 2013 Design Automation Conference in Austin, Texas.
