United Community Financial Lowers Q3 Earnings
Wednesday, November 10, 2004YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- United Community Financial Corp.'s third quarter net income dropped to $194,000 from the previously announced earnings of $3 million, officials reported yesterday. The earnings reduction is the result of additional impairment charges on a group of consumer and commercial loans, which resulted in additional provision for loan losses, officials said. Annualized return on average equity for the third quarter of 2004 was 0.31% compared to 8.28% for the same period in 2003.

Choice One Communications to Exit Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
Tuesday, November 09, 2004"ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Following bankruptcy court approval of its "prepackaged" financial restructuring plan, Choice One Communications expects to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection about Nov. 18, officials announced earlier today. The integrated communications provider, which has operations in the Youngstown area, will exit bankruptcy with $30 million of new financing and debt that has been reduced to approximately $205 million from more than $1 billion.
