Wednesday, August 27, 2014HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Artist Mike Sakony and his partner, photographer Linda Smiley, drove past the eCenter@LindenPointe every day and wondered whether the incubator in Hermitage, Pa., would be a good fit for his business.
After a year of working out of his basement – and months of prodding from his father – Sakony arranged a meeting with the executive director of the eCenter, Yvonne English. He and Smiley presented their plan, and by April, Blissed Out Design was one of the newest tenants at the incubator.
Covelli Seizes Opportunity with 2nd Boardman Panera
Wednesday, August 27, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Growth along the southern Market Street corridor here provides a “great opportunity” for Covelli Enterprises’ second Panera Bread Bakery-Café in the township, owner Sam Covelli says.
Covelli Enterprises opened its newest Panera Bread Tuesday morning at Southwoods Commons, a few miles from where the Warren-based company opened its first Panera Bread in the township’s Shops at Boardman Park. The bakery-café’s opening and acquisition of the Dayton market will bring the number of Covelli-operated Paneras to about 270, Covelli reports.

MarkWest Expands Capacity in Butler County, Pa.
Wednesday, August 27, 2014DENVER -- MarkWest Energy Partners LP plans to undertake a major expansion at its Keystone processing complex in Butler County, Pa. to accommodate new business recently secured with Rex Energy Corp. and EdgeMarc Energy.
The expansion consists of building new midstream infrastructure with the construction of Bluestone III and Bluestone IV, two new plants that will have the capacity to process 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day each.
MarkWest said the plants would begin operations during the fourth quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016 respectively.
BWC to Rebate $126M to Public Employers
Wednesday, August 27, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation would return a projected $126.1 million to 3,800 local public employers under its “Another Billion Back” program -- including more than $6 million to countiesin northeastern Ohio. The program also calls for increased funding for workplace safety grants and the creation of initiatives to enhance the safety, health and wellness of the state workforce.
HBK Recognized as a ‘Best Employer’
Wednesday, August 27, 2014CANFIELD, Ohio -- HBK, formerly Hill, Bath & King LLC, has been recognized as a best employer by four accounting periodicals, the public accounting firm reports.
Accounting Today ranked HBK No. 67 on its list of top 100 employers.
Inside Public Accounting ranked the firm 88th on its Top 100 list.
In the Ohio SHRM State Council and Best Companies Group, HBK was ranked seventh in the large employer (more than 250 employees) category. It was the fourth time in seven years HBK was so recognized.
Meeks to Retire Next Year as Eastern Gateway President
Tuesday, August 26, 2014STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Laura Meeks, president of Eastern Gateway Community College, will retire next July 31 after her 16th year in the position.
Meeks has spent 33 years working at community colleges. Before arriving in 1999 at Eastern Gateway, then known as Jefferson Community College, she was president of Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kan., and vice president of instruction at Green River Community College in Auburn, Wash.
WRPA to Host Brownfield Redevelopment Expert

In a press event that drew reporters from regional, national and international news organizations, Consol kicked off a multi-well oil and natural gasl drilling program on 9,000 acres at the airport, a project executives say provides a $1 billion opportunity for both the energy company and the airport.
