GE Prepares to Tear Down Old Youngstown Plant
Monday, March 10, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- General Electric Co. is removing materials from inside its former Youngstown Lamp Plant near downtown in preparation to take down the structure.
“Deconstruction of the exterior structure will begin in the coming weeks,” confirms Alicia Gauer, manager-internal communications for GE Lighting in Cleveland.
During the deconstruction phase, the building is carefully taken apart, with as many building materials as possible salvaged and reused, "without generating excessive waste and minimizing things like dust," Gauer explained.
Set-Aside Programs Challenge Contractors

Without certification as an 8(a) disadvantaged business, ownership by a woman, member of a minority group or military veteran, or location within a federal HUBZone, they report sometimes they can even submit a bid.

Ford Shifts Truck Assembly from Mexico to Avon Lake
Friday, March 07, 2014AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Ford Motor Co. will shift production of its new 2016 F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks from Mexico to the Ohio Assembly Plant here, with the trucks available for sale in spring 2015.
The company will spend $168 million to retool the Cleveland area plant for the new medium-duty trucks. Ohio Assembly, which opened in 1974, now makes the Ford E-Series lineup of vans and other commercial vehicles.
