8 Well Permits for Utica's Southern Tier
Monday, December 01, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued eight horizontal drilling permits during the week ended Nov. 22, all of them targeted for wells in the southern tier of the Utica shale.
Two Oklahoma City-based companies, American Energy Utica LLC and Chesapeake Exploration LLC, each were awarded four permits, ODNR said.
Chesapeake, the most prolific driller in the Utica, secured four permits in Harrison County at the R. Alan property in North Township.

Humphries to Address YSU Fall Commencement
Monday, December 01, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Tom Humphries, president and chief executive of the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and a member of the Ohio Board of Regents, will be the featured speaker at Youngstown State University’s fall commencement 2 p.m. Dec. 14 in Beeghly Center.
A graduate of YSU, Humphries, of Girard, previously was Ohio general manager for Sprint Corp. He is also the principal of Data Voice Systems Review Inc., which implements telecommunications and associate services for companies across North America.
Local Artists Exhibit at TAG, TMH
Monday, December 01, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- Members of Trumbull Area Artists are offering works for sale at Trumbull Art Gallery and Nissen Gallery here. Trumbull Art Gallery’s Holiday Show includes 151 pieces by 35 artists.
All works are priced at $200 or less, officials say.
More than 100 works by 23 artists are available at the Nissen Gallery’s Holiday Show on the first floor of Trumbull Memorial Hospital on East Market Street. All of these pieces are priced at $100 or less, according to Karen Fry, gallery curator.
Both shows run through Jan. 1.
South Avenue Business Group Stresses Unity

And with that, this year’s “Movember” came to an end.
The eight -- Patrick Wilson, Mike Case, Brian Laraway, Dan Ricchuiti, Jon Sherman, Jonathon Fauvie, Don Koenig and Dennis LaRue -- agreed at the beginning of November to not shave parts of their faces this month in hopes of getting comments about their moustaches, goatees and extended sideburns.
