Arts of Stark is a non-profit organization in Stark County that awards grants, manages the Cultural Center for the Arts and runs the Annual Arts Campaign.
Akron-Canton Airport Gets Perfect Score from FAA
Monday, September 29, 2014GREEN, Ohio -- The Akron-Canton Airport recently achieved a perfect score on the Federal Aviation Administration's Code of Federal Regulations Part 139 Airfield Safety Inspection. All U.S. airports that offer commercial airline service are evaluated annually.
The process involves pre-inspection reviews, administrative meetings, inspections of aircraft rescue and firefighting facilities, airfield movement areas (like runways and taxiways), fueling facilities, night operations and administrative briefings, said Rick McQueen, airport president and CEO.
Former U.S. Rep. James Traficant Dies at 73

Northwood to Open Alliance Office in Mid-October
Friday, September 26, 2014ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Work is under way on a new Northwood Realty Services office here that will open in the coming weeks. Internet access, phone lines and other office needs are being established in anticipation of a mid-October opening for the office, the company says.
The Alliance office will broaden the Pittsburgh company’s footprint into Stark County and join its Ohio's presence in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, the company says. The office is brand new and not an acquisition of an existing agency, notes Deborah Saus, marketing coordinator.
YBI, Akron Accelerator Get Funding for Expansions
Friday, September 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Expansions at the Youngstown Business Incubator and the Akron Global Business Accelerator stand to enhance northeastern Ohio's potential as a high-tech hub, U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio, said Thursday.
The congressman announced funding from the Economic Development Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce, for two major projects: a $3 million grant for the YBI to renovate a fifth building and thus expand its downtown campus, and $2.5 million for the Akron Global Business Accelerator to construct the Bits and Atoms Innovation Center.
20 Federal Gets Tenant as RFP Deadline Nears
Friday, September 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A new tenant was approved Thursday to occupy the city-owned 20 Federal Place food court, action that comes a week before the city deadline for proposals to buy the property.
The city’s Board of Control approved a lease agreement with New Seasonings Nutritional Services, Youngstown, doing business as New Seasonings Café, for 640 square feet of space in the food court. Bo Willie’s Soul Food had occupied the slot, vacant for about eight months.
