Oh Wow! Adult Programs Begin Nov. 21
Thursday, November 14, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The first “Wow! After Hours” program for adults 21 and older will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children's Center in the downtown. Topic is “Meet Your Maker.”
The program will feature real-life, local toymaker Court Strudwick, who will demonstrate tricks of his trade. Light refreshments will be served and each participant will receive a toy kit, said Suzanne Barbati, president and executive director. Other programs rooted in science, technology, engineering and mathematics for adults are being planned, she said.
Mayor-elect McNally Seeks Resumes for Top City Jobs
Wednesday, November 13, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Mayor-elect John McNally today announced that he is accepting resumes for all top city positions that are appointed. This includes the police and fire chief positions.
McNally, in a press release, said even those city officials currently serving in unclassified service positions to “confirm their interest in remaining in service to the city” by also submitting their resumes.

He told Evans that he had brought his family, which included his wife, children, mother, mother-in-law and mother-in-law’s sister, and remarked that they didn’t get into a single fight -- a common occurrence, apparently.
“‘This WaterFire thing, it’s almost like it’s art or something,’” the construction worker observed, according to Evans.
Higher Reimbursement Helps Mahoning Nursing Homes

USDA Official Praises Local Foods Movement
Wednesday, November 13, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A U.S. Department of Agriculture officials praised Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley for “leading in the local foods movement” during a visit Tuesday to the Lake-to-River Food Hub.
Tony Logan, USDA’s rural development state director for Ohio, toured the Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator and proposed Elm Street Café inside the North Side building. He noted Common Wealth Inc.’s Jim Converse has been working with USDA on a $75,475 Farm Market Promotion Program grant awarded to the agency in 2011.
