Vexfest Returns Aug. 11, Seeks Performers
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Returning to the downtown Aug. 11, VexFest will offer a festival of eclectic music, food, vending and beverages, reports its organizer, Dan Crump.
This year marks the ninth such festival of music and the arts. It will feature local and touring acts who play all day before an audience that in years past has numbered more than 7,000 fans, according to Crump.
VexFest 9 is bringing back the two-stage set-up, and the festival is free.
VexFest is funded primarily through sponsors. Among them in recent years were AT&T, Boardman Subaru, The Ohio Lottery, The Youngstown Phantoms, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Labatt Blue, Defend Youngstown, Valley24.com, Barleys, Downtown 36, W.C. Zabel Co., and the city of Youngstown.
Those interested in performing can submit an electronic press kit only through the Sonicbids website. Submissions will be accepted through July 15. The Sonicbids Electronic Press Kit is a Web-based graphic interface that contains all the basic information of a musical act such as music, photos, date calendar and riders, and can be emailed to anyone with a click of the mouse or submitted in online promoter accounts through a virtual "drop box.”
