Valley Red Cross Chapter Seeks Volunteers
WARREN, Ohio -- The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley needs volunteers. A open house and information session is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the office on Mahoning Avenue here.
Volunteers are needed for local, regional and national work, said Karen E. Conklin, executive director. "We are offering two information sessions to learn more about our local disaster action team, our service to armed forces and other volunteer opportunities," she noted.
All Red Cross disaster training is free, she added.
The first session of the day, which includes a light lunch, will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. The second session, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., includes cookies and coffee.
The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, more than 200 volunteers and a small staff helped victims of more than 100 disasters, taught lifesaving skills to thousands; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood.
To register for one of the sessions or to obtain more information, call the office at 330 392 2551.
