Paul Ryan Coming Here Late Monday for Rally
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will make a return visit to the Mahoning Valley late Monday, hours before the polls opens, to headline a “Victory Rally” rally at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna Township.
Ryan, continuing what it bills as the “Real Recovery Road Rally,” will attend an event at Atlantic Aviation in Reno, Nev., prior to the event at Winner Aviation. Doors for the event will open at 6:45 p.m. and the program is set to begin at 9:15 p.m. Additional midday events are to be announced as well.
Tickets for the event are available at the campaign’s Niles Victory Center, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, or online.
Ryan visited the Mahoning Valley a few weeks ago for an Oct. town-hall event at Youngstown State University. The campaign stop drew national attention and scrutiny over a photo opportunity following the event the campaign that was staged at the St. Vincent De Paul Society dining hall downtown.
Although it was first said that Ryan and his family washed already clean dishes, it turned out they washed dishes purposely left for them to clean in the presence of the cameras when they arrived, after the hall was mostly closed from serving the morning meal. The visit was criticized by the St. Vincent De Paul Society’s president, Brian Antal, for taking place without his authorization and against the organization’s bylaws.
On Monday, Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton headlined a campaign rally at the Covelli Centre downtown on behalf of the reelection of President Barack Obama and Biden. On Sunday, U.S. House Speaker John Boehner will stump locally for the GOP ticket.
