Biden-Clinton Event Moved to 3:30 P.M.
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Obama for America campaign has issued revised information regarding today’s event at the Covelli Centre, which will now feature Vice President Joe Biden as well as former President Bill Clinton.
President Obama, who had been expected to headline today’s event with Clinton, a short while ago cancelled his scheduled event in Orlando today to monitor Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to make landfall today.
Doors for the Covelli Center event will now open at 2 p.m., and the program is expected to get under way at 3:30 p.m. The event with Obama had been scheduled to get under way about 5:30 p.m.
The visit by the vice president and Clinton comes as polls show a narrowing contest ahead of next week’s presidential election nationwide and in Ohio, considered a must-win state for Obama and his Republican rival, Mitt Romney. A poll published by Ohio newspapers Sunday showed both candidates tied among likely voters at 49%, and recent national polls show leads of anywhere from a 4-percentage point lead for Romney to a 3-point edge for Obama.
The Obama campaign also announced Sunday that the president will travel to Las Vegas, Boulder, Colo., and Springfield, Ohio for grassroots events Thursday, and campaign throughout Ohio Friday. Details on his trip are forthcoming, and plans are subject to change due to weather conditions.
