Historian Staughton Lynd to Speak at Steel Museum
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Attorney and activist Staughton Lynd will present “The New Rank and File and the Walmart Moment” at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor (Steel Museum) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Following the talk, he and, his wife, Alice Lynd, will sign copies of their book, Rank and File: Personal Histories by Working Class Organizers, recently revised and reprinted by Haymarket Books. Rank and File, first published in 1973 that relies largely on oral histories the Lynds conducted, has long been out of print. The Lynds revised their publication, which documents the work of more than two dozen working-class organizers.
