WorkLife by Meridian Qualifies for Registry
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- WorkLife by Meridian, a provider of workforce wellness, occupational health and testing, reports it has qualified for the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
According to FMCSA, the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners is a new program designed to “promote and preserve the highest level of professional standards, training and care among medical examiners.” The agency has strict regulations surrounding qualifications for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers in an effort to promote roadway safety, the announcement notes.
Previously, medical certifications for CMV drivers could be issued with the approval of any physician providing the necessary services. However, physicians that wish to participate in the medical certification of CMV drivers must now participate in specialized training and pass an exam in order to be approved for the national registry.
Many transport, trucking and logistics companies will need to find new physicians that meet the requirements necessary for medical certifications. Any medical certifications that expired May 21 or thereafter will need to be examined by a medical examiner listed on the registry.
WorkLife by Meridian has four on-site medical specialists on the National Registry of Medical Examiners: Dr. Daniel Brown, Dr. Michael Cafaro, nurse practitioner Irene Starr, and nurse practitioner Laura L. DeJulia.
WorkLife by Meridian offers occupational health and workforce wellness programs, along with drug and alcohol testing. It is a division of Meridian Community Care,a nonprofit organization that also provides counseling and addiction treatment, community education and awareness programs, and primary health care and wellness.
