St. E’s Boardman Opens Infusion Center Thursday
BOARDMAN, Ohio –- Patients who need outpatient IV infusion therapy have a new option at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, which is opening an infusion center Thursday. The center provides an alternative to hospitalization, nursing home admission or home care.
The center, on the first floor adjacent to the main lobby, “offers an easily accessible, relaxing environment for infusion patients. Many IV therapies are available, with a physician’s order, seven days a week including holidays,” officials said.
Infusion therapy involves the administration of medication through a needle or catheter. It is prescribed when a patient’s condition cannot be treated effectively by oral medications. Typically, it means that a drug is administered intravenously; however, it can also mean intramuscular or subcutaneous injections. Therapies at the Boardman center include, but are not limited to, daily IV antibiotics, IV hydration or electrolyte replacement and IV medications to treat conditions such as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, migraines and asthma.
