Southwoods Surgical Hospital Ranked 'Top Performer'
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods reports it was recently ranked a "top performer in surgical care" by The Joint Commission, a nonprofit health-care accreditation service.
Citing the commission's annual review – Top Performer on Key Quality Measures – Southwoods said accountability data was analyzed for thousands of hospitals across the country throughout 2012 and found Southwoods to be “demonstrably excellent in surgical care.”
No other hospitals in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties achieved this designation, according to Southwoods, and Southwoods is among only 181 hospitals nationally that have earned this recognition for two consecutive years.
“We strive daily to provide our patients with the best surgical and clinical care, combined with the most efficient and pleasant experience one could find at any hospital in the country,” said Southwoods' CEO, Ed Muransky, in a prepared statement. “This latest Joint Commission designation validates what our administrators, doctors and nurses do on behalf of our patients."
The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods is a physician-owned acute care facility. Southwoods provides outpatient and inpatient surgical services in nearly all medical specialties and an expanding array of ancillary health services at locations separate from the hospital.
The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
