Shepherd Names Limongi Executive Director Designee
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Rich Limongi has been named executive director designee by Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services Inc., Austintown. He will become executive director when Don Kacmar retires at the end of 2014.
Kacmar has given more than 30 years of service to Shepherd. Limongi, associate director of Shepherd of the Valley-Boardman, joined Shepherd in 1991.
"Throughout the year, the board of directors has worked diligently to select my successor as executive director," Kacmar stated in a prepared statement. "Following a national search, they found that the group of associate directors we already have stood out above the external candidates. After a thorough process comparing the extensive skills and talents of our internal candidates, they chose to promote Rich Limongi to be the next executive director for Shepherd of the Valley."
Limongi brings extensive experience to the position. After graduating from Ohio University, he worked several years for Park Vista Retirement Community before joining the Shepherd staff in 1991. At Shepherd, he has been responsible for the daily operations of Shepherd's Boardman campus, a 109-bed skilled-nursing and rehab community as well as serving as the first administrator for Shepherd's community in Poland.
He serves as the corporate compliance officer, rehabilitation coordinator, legislative advocacy coordinator, HIPAA compliance officer, staff education coordinator and coordinator of integrated-care delivery services.
"Having been an employee of this corporation for 24 years, I have seen the growth of the organization and have insight into future opportunities as well," Limongi said in his prepared statement. "I would also like to personally thank Don Kacmar, my mentor and direct supervisor, without whose guidance over the years, this promotion would not have been possible."
Kacmar, a native of Uniontown, Pa., received his baccalaureate at Temple University, which he attended on an NCAA football scholarship. During his tenure as executive director, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services has grown from one campus in Niles with fewer than 100 employees supporting 170 residents to five campuses in two counties and a home-health agency, At Home with Shepherd, serving more than 750 elderly residents and clients and employing nearly 500 people.
He also spearheaded, along with Lutheran Social Services of Northern Ohio and St. Luke Lutheran Community, the Manor at Howland Glen building project that created a 50-unit income-adjusted apartment community in Howland Township, for persons age 62 and older.
