Sharon Regional Names Smith Chief Quality Officer
SHARON, Pa. -- Sharon Regional Health System has named Amy Smith its chief quality officer. She has direct responsibility for patient safety, service quality, organizational performance improvement, medical staff performance improvement, and clinical standards and practices.
Smith comes to Sharon Regional from Valley Care Health System in Youngstown (formerly Forum Health), where she served as vice president of care management, market director of case management and director of case management/utilization management. Before that, she worked for Sharon Regional in several posts including director of the cancer care center, director/clinical nurse specialist of outcomes management and research, clinical nurse specialist, clinical coordinator of the cardiac cath lab/interventional radiology, and as a professional nurse in the emergency care center.
She earned a doctor of nursing practice in nursing leadership and administration from Duquesne University, a master of science in nursing from Gannon University in Erie, Pa., and a B.S. in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She holds several advanced board certifications, serves on the editorial review panel of Medsurg Nurse Journal and is an adjunct faculty member at Waynesburg University in the MSN program for nursing administration.
