Sharon Regional Hosts 5th Autism Conference
SHARON, Pa. -- The Connections Autism Program of Sharon Regional Health System is hosting its fifth annual autism conference April 25. The conference, “The Verbal Behavior Approach, Using Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior Strategies to Improve Autism Programming Across the Spectrum,” will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Casino at Buhl Farm Park in Hermitage.
Keynote speaker for the conference is Mary Lynch Barbera, a board-certified behavior analyst, registered nurse, author and parent of a child with autism. Barbera has worked with hundreds of children on the autism spectrum and assisted in providing training to thousands of professionals and parents. In 2007 she published the Verbal Behavior Approach: How to Teach Children with Autism and Related Disorders.
The conference is intended for families, wraparound staff, social workers, counselors, therapists, speech and occupational therapists. Six CEUs have been approved for board-certified behavior analysts, and for Ohio and Pennsylvania social workers, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists.
The cost is $30 for parents and $85 for all other professionals. The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, CEUs and a copy of Barbera’s book (the latter for registrations received by April 9). For more information or to register, call 800 346 7997.
