SCH Changes to Salem Regional Medical Center
SALEM, Ohio -- Salem Community Hospital is changing its name to Salem Regional Medical Center effective Jan. 1. The new name acknowledges the hospital’s growth and expanded services, officials say, along with reflecting its commitment to providing medical services to the region as an independent, nonprofit medical center.
“We are very excited to launch this new era in our organization’s history,” said Derek Hiscox, chairman of the SCH board of directors. “After thoughtful and careful consideration, our board determined that a name change was the best way to communicate our organization’s continued forward progress as a strong and independent regional hospital.”
Hiscox emphasized only the hospital's name and logo is changing. There is no change in ownership, staff, location or mission, he said. "Our board of directors is committed to maintaining our independence as a strong and vibrant regional medical center."
Added Anita Hackstedde, president and CEO, “While we are very proud of the Salem Community Hospital name and our 100-year history, our organization has evolved into much more than that name implies. We have become a regional destination for patients and community members to receive advanced, high-quality care; that is complemented by innovation and state-of-the-art technology. To that end, our entire organization is looking forward to the opening of our new private patient room tower in 2014, which will provide enhanced services to people throughout the region.”
The $42.5 million expansion project will be unveiled in late January during a series of open houses, officials said. The 169,700 square foot tower includes 87 private patient rooms on three floors.
