Salem Community Hospital Appoints Ruwoldt CEO
SALEM, Ohio -- Steven T. Ruwoldt has been named the new CEO of Salem Community Hospital, replacing Howard Rohleder, who will retire at the end of June. The announcement was made Thursday by Catherine Hubbs, chair of the Salem Community Hospital Board of Directors.
Ruwoldt brings more than 20 years of executive experience to his new position. Most recently, he served as CEO for Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, N.Y. He began his health-care career as a pharmacist, and has held executive level positions at Mt. Clemens General Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Mich.; Pinnacle Health System in Harrisburg, Pa, and Lutheran Hospital, a member hospital of the Cleveland Clinic Health System.
Ruwoldt is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the board of directors for the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association. He completed undergraduate degrees in biology and pharmacy at Wayne State University in Detroit, and received his master's degree in health administration from the University of Michigan.
“Salem Community Hospital has served the local community for nearly a century, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to join this health care team,” said Ruwoldt in a prepared statement. “My goal is to help the hospital remain independent and successful in the ever-changing health care environment. I strongly believe that community involvement is critical to the hospital’s success, and I look forward to meeting and working with the citizens of Salem and the surrounding communities.”
Ruwoldt and his wife of 28 years, Linda, have a 14 year old son, Peter.
