Northside Medical Center Names Crable CEO
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Northside Medical Center today named Trent Crable as its new CEO, effective Aug. 4. Crable has 25 years of diverse health care management experience managing complex operations at academic and community hospitals.
“For more than 100 years, Northside Medical Center has cared for the Youngstown community, and I’m honored to join the team of physicians, employees and volunteers that work so hard to continue that mission," Crable said in a prepared statement. "Northside remains a valuable resource for this area, now more than ever with the new resources available to patients,” he continued, referencing the recently completed expansion of the hospital’s emergency department and three-story tower.
Crable most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Brooklyn Hospital Center, a 426-bed teaching hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. There he led efforts that resulted in the improvement of employee and physician satisfaction, quality and safety measures, and patient experience. He also expanded the hospital’s ability to serve more patients by adding ambulatory surgery, improved emergency department flow for efficiency and patient satisfaction, and implemented changes in surgical processes that lowered infections below the national expected rate and facilitated recruitment of 12 new surgeons.
“Trent has an established commitment to enhancing quality measures and the patient experience as well as a solid track record for making hospitals places where physicians and employees enjoy coming to work,” said Sandy Kessler, chairman of Northside Medical Center board of trustees. “On behalf of the board, I look forward to working with him to continue our commitment to providing patients with quality care.”
Crable previously was CEO of George Washington University Hospital and associate executive director at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from West Chester University in West Chester, Pa., and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he later served as vice president of professional services of VCU’s health system.
