Northside Hospital Says Strike Doesn't Impact Care
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- As pickets march outside Northside Medical Center, staging a one-day strike to protest what leaders of the Ohio Nurses Association calls "unfair labor practices" in negotiations to reach a new contract, the hospital says it "is continuing to provide high-quality care for its patients today. ...ll inpatient, outpatient and emergency services are available and all surgeries and diagnostic procedures are taking place as scheduled."
Northside Medical Center issued a statement about one hour after the picketing began.
"The hospital has fully prepared for the strike and all areas are staffed with highly skilled nurses and other health professionals. Teams of qualified, experienced, temporary replacement nurses are working to ensure uninterrupted, quality care for patients," the hospital said.
"All public entrances are open. The hospital has increased security personnel and patrols throughout the facility to assist patients and visitors."
