Extrudex Aluminum Disputes OSHA Safety Violations
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio -- Extrudex Aluminum Inc. says it disagrees with the U.S. Deparatment of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which filed eight safety violations against the company in connection with the accidental death Oct. 30 of one of its employees (READ STORY). The alleged safety violations resulted in a proposed fine of $175,000.00, which the company disputes in total.
Said the company in a news release, "Extrudex disagrees with the findings of OSHA, which are only proposed at this point in time. Extrudex will dispute the claims within 15 days of the citation ... and will pursue its remedies at the administrative level and judicial level if necessary."
The spokesman described the Extrudex workplace as "aone of the safest in the industry and we strive to keep Extrudex a safe place to work. While it is unfortunate to have lost a valued employee, we believe there is nothing the company could have done to prevent this tragedy."
The company has reviewed its safety procedures and training programs, the spokesman added. "We remain convinced that at the end of the OSHA review process, we will demonstrate that we continue to maintain a safe environment for our employees”.
Extrudex Aluminum Inc. is a manufacturer of extruded aluminum products. The company, based in Canada, employs 140 workers at its plant here.
