Tressel's Installation to Include Kasich Keynote
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Gov. John R. Kasich will deliver the keynote address Aug. 18 when Jim Tressel is officially installed as president of Youngstown State University, the school announced today. The event takes place at 2 p.m. in YSU’s Beeghly Center.
Kasich is among several state government and higher education leaders expected to attend the ceremony during which Tressel will be installed as YSU’s ninth president.
The ceremony, which will be streamed live at http://www.horizonleague.org/live/11613, is open to the public. Free parking will be available on campus. A reception will immediately follow.
On Sept. 16, Two days before his installation, Tressel will give the keynote address at YSU’s Summer Commencement in Beeghly Center.
Tressel, who as head football coach guided YSU to four Division 1-AA national titles and Ohio State University to a 1-A crown as well, officially started as YSU president July 1. He served as acting president 10 days prior when the interim president, Ikram Khawaja, used his remaining vacation days until his contract expired.
YSU’s board of trustees hired Tressel in May following Randy Dunn’s early departure.
