Student Registration Opens for eCenter Summer Series
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The eCenter@Lindenpointe will hold a free series of educational camps for high school students beginning this month.
The Millennial Spark Summer Series is made possible through an eCenter partnership with Community Connections as well as the city of Hermitage and the A.J. & Sigusmunda Palumbo Charitable Trust.
Registration is required, and space is limited. Students can register at this website.
The schedule:
#webweek: June 23 to 27, 9 a.m. to noon: Gray Mackenzie and Andrew Dymski, founders of eCenter startup, GuavaBox, will teach students how to build their own websites in a week. GuavaBox is a successful inbound marketing agency that instructs businesses on how to improve their marketing strategies.
Launchpad: July 14 to 18, 9a.m. to noon: Students will be introduced to 3-D animation concepts used to create images, short films, and video games. There will be an opportunity for hands-on 3-D animation work using Blender software. Andrew Pavlick, a graduate of Sharpsville High School and the founder of Pixelque (a newly formed company at the eCenter), will teach the program.
Apps For Teens: July 21 to 25, 9 a.m. to noon: Students will learn to build their own apps without any progra.m.ming background with the author of iOS Develop.m.ent for Teens By Teens, Chip Beck. Beck, currently a student at Hickory High School, has 15 apps available for download in Apple’s App Store.
Big Ideas -- Creativity, Design, and Innovation Camp: Aug. 4 to 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Students will take ideas and create items by using easy-to-learn design layout and 3-D printing.
Bizcamp: Aug. 11 to 15, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Through hands-on learning, field trips, and guest speakers, students will be exposed to a better understanding of what’s needed to start a business.
