Registration Opens for Government Leadership Academy
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Registrations are being accepted for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s 2013 Mahoning Valley Local Government Leadership Academy set for Jan. 29 through March 26.
Elected officials, those considering running for office, government and school leaders and employees and local business and nonprofit officials are invited to take part.
The nine-week series of classes is geared to help people become effective government leaders. It also gives class members a broad perspective of how local government operations should be conducted, the chamber says.
Among the classes are how to run for office, the duties of an elected official, local government collaboration, leadership skills, ethics, building sustainable communities, dealing with the media and citizens and promoting economic development.
Since the Regional Chamber held its first academy class five years ago, some 120 Mahoning Valley residents have graduated.
