JA Titan Challenge Thursday at Williamson College
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Seventy students from Mahoning and Trumbull County high schools will attend the fifth annual JA Titan Business Challenge Thursday, March 13, in Williamson Hall on the Youngstown State University campus.
The event, hosted by the YSU Williamson College of Business Administration and Junior Achievement of the Mahoning Valley, helps increase the students’ understanding of running a business in a competitive, high-tech marketplace.
Each of the 24 teams consists of two or three high school students and a local business mentor. Teams will use an interactive online business simulation called JA Titan that offers a way for young people to learn what it takes to compete in the marketplace and to run a successful business. JA Titan is designed to compliment high school economics, math and social studies curriculum.
JA students will determine the success or failure of their business based on how well they manage key issues such as setting prices, filling production requests, establishing marketing, and investing in research, development and capital equipment. Students analyze situations, apply information under time pressure, chart and interpret data, and build censuses.
JA Titan Business Challenge is sponsored by the Williamson College of Business Administration, Denise and John York and the DeBartolo Corporation, the Home Savings Charitable Foundation and Falcon Foundry Co.
