Academy CEO to Speak at Education Conference
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Annemarie M. Grassi, CEO of Open Doors Academy, a Cleveland-based leadership program for teenagers, will be the keynote speaker Thursday at an educational conference for teachers, counselors, agency officials, social workers and others who work with at-risk children.
The conference, “Innovations: Evolving Approaches to Youth Development,” is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Davis Education & Visitors Center in Mill Creek Park here.
The William Swanston Charitable Fund, which works to improve the lives of at-risk children in the Mahoning Valley, is the sponsor.
In addition to Grassi’s address, the conference will offer workshops, discussions and networking sessions. Among the workshop leaders are Grassi; Rob Fischer, director of the masters of nonprofit organizations degree program at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland; and representatives of Voices of Ohio, an advocacy group for issues related to children.
“This conference will showcase leading strategies for working with at-risk children," said Paul M. Dutton, chairman of the board of the Swanston Fund. “Participants will hear from experts in the field and have opportunities to discuss their best practices, ask questions, join discussions and network with their colleagues.
The registration fee of $15 covers all of the conference sessions, materials and breakfast and lunch. Additional individuals from the same organization can register for $10 each.
