WRPA Votes Unanimously to Extend DeLeon's Contract
VIENNA, Ohio -- The Board of Directors of the Western Reserve Port Authority today voted unanimously to extend the employment contract of its executive director, Rose Ann DeLeon, until Dec. 31, 2014. The board acted on a recommendation made by the WRPA’s Economic Development Subcommittee.
“I’m extremely pleased that Rose Ann will continue to lead our economic development efforts for the next 19 months,” said the WRPA board president, Scott Lynn, in a prepared statement. “During her tenure as executive director she has succeeded in positioning the port puthority as a ‘go-to’ economic development agency in our region.”
Lynn credited DeLeon with raising “awareness about our capabilities and capacities, leading the effort to secure funding for critically important projects including the $600,000 Brownfield Assessment Coalition Grant we just received from the U.S. EPA, all while being actively engaged in discussions with a wide range of public and private sector entities interested in locating or expanding operations in the Valley. Keeping her on board means we won’t lose the momentum she’s created, and that’s extremely good news for us and for the entire community," he said.
DeLeon said she is pleased by the board’s decision and looks forward to continuing to work hard to spur growth and development in the Mahoning Valley.
“The WRPA has an essential role to play in the drive to attract and retain businesses and jobs to our region,” DeLeon said in her prepared statement. “That includes exploring every opportunity to maximize the positive impact our location atop the Marcellus Shale fields will have on our community in the years ahead.”
Under the terms of the extension approved by the board, DeLeon’s compensation will continue at the same level and under the same conditions as her current contract.
