Site Selection: Ohio Business Climate 2nd Best
ATLANTA – In its November issue, Site Selection magazine ranks Ohio second only to North Carolina as the state with the best business climate.
Rounding out the top 10 are Texas, ranked first a year ago, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida.
The editors of Site Selection considered these factors: state and local tax scheme, transportation infrastructure, utility infrastructure, land/building prices and supply, ease of permitting and regulatory procedures, existing workforce skills, local economic development strategy, legal climate (tort reform), availability of incentives and state economic development strategy.
They weighted their rankings 50% on an index of tax burden criteria from the Tax Foundation and KPMG’s Location Matters analysis and each state’s performance in Conway’s Data’s new plant database, the other 50% on a survey of corporate site selectors.
Based only on the criteria set in the second half, Texas ranked first followed by North Carolina Virginia and Tennessee. Ohio ranked ninth.
