Rubenstein to Develop Marketing Plan for Cortland
CORTLAND, Ohio -- City Council has awarded a contract to Rubenstein Associates, Liberty Township, to study and launch a nationwide marketing communication endeavor on behalf of the city, the president of the marketing firm, Carolyn Rubenstein, announced Tuesday.
The first phase is development of a strategic marketing plan.
“We have so much to offer and intend to share our economic and family values and opportunities with Ohio and America -- Cortland truly is a stunning northeastern Ohio success story," noted Mayor Curt Moll.
Jim Woofter, president of council, explained that the decision was made not to pursue a mainstream economic development program. “Typically smaller communities don’t have the resources to establish a full-scale economic development effort,” he noted. “Our objective is to initiate more of a marketing communication effort where we can use digital marketing, public relations and sales strategies to attract business, industry and families throughout the region, state and nation.”
Development of the strategic marketing plan will be followed by a comprehensive presentation to the business community to raise interest and ongoing support, Rubenstein says. An initial presentation and kickoff breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. June 12 at The Lake Vista Clubhouse.
Rubenstein said that Cortland “is the perfect place to be dubbed ‘America’s hometown.’ ” She cites the charming countryside setting of the community, proximity to a beautiful lake and state park, family orientation and business-friendly government.
“Access to utilities, major interstates and contiguity to America’s major markets make it a natural place to expand or start a business and raise a family,” added Jennifer Campbell, director of marketing at the agency.
Once the plan is approved and funded, “We’ll initiate our digital marketing, sales and public relations campaign with the objective of establishing it as a vital piece of our future growth,” Woofter says.
