Regional Chamber Releases Economic Development Update
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber released an economic developmennt update Thursday that describes the five-county region as "North America's center for Utica and Marcellus shale business.
The report, contained in a two page PDF (CLICK HERE), begins by stating that $8.4 billion has been invested in the Youngstown-Warren area and "nearby Western Pennsylvania" since 2008, 7,670 new jobs have been created in that time frame and 12,560 jobs have been retained.
In listing shale business milestones, the chamber begins with the announcement Nov. 8 that Legacy Measurement Solutions of Texas will bring 150 jobs to a manufacturing facility in Brookfield (READ STORY).
The chamber also touts positive news coverage about the regional economy. States the chamber, "In recent years, the chamber has reached out to regional, national and international media to change the world's perception of the Valley. And it's working."
