Regional Airport Seeks Input on Freight-Rail Demand
VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport hopes to gauge demand for freight-rail service through a survey it is conducting.
Available online here, the survey is intended to gather input on demand for freight rail services among businesses in the Mahoning Valley, as well as those who may be considering establishing a facility in the Mahoning Valley, especially related to opportunities arising from the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays.
The survey is part of a rail and pipeline feasibility analysis being prepared by Silverload Consulting Corp., Cleveland. The airport, the Western Reserve Port Authority and the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office jointly commissioned the study as part of the airport’s strategic planning process.
“The feasibility analysis will provide the YWRA with a framework to evaluate the potential return on investment and economic development impacts associated with the extension of freight rail services to the airport,” said Jason Hamman, a senior consultant at Silverlode Consulting.
