Ohio Business Filings Drop Slightly in August
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The owners of 7,094 new entities filed to do business in Ohio in August, the office of secretary of state reports. This number is slightly less than August 2012, when 7,341 new entities were filed.
The office of secretary of state has helped 62,323 new businesses file from January through August, it says. This is an increase from the eight months last year when there were 60,069 filings.
Although these numbers don’t provide a complete picture of the jobs climate in the state, they are an important indicator of economic activity within.
New business filings are forms owners or their lawyers submit to the office of secretary of state that declare the formation of a business entity; these encompass for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships.
