New Website Helps Salem Promote Businesses
SALEM, Ohio -- A new website (CLICK HERE) is giving this city an economic development tool it’s never had before, says David Goodman, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency. The website was developed as a result of an $80,600 grant from the state Local Government Innovation Fund.
The city of Salem, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center jointly applied for the grant in 2012. The money went toward the development and execution of the website, Goodman says. “This website has become so popular, neighboring communities are already asking for it to be duplicated in their area,” he said in a prepared statement.
The website known as SEED BASE (Salem) is designed to allow smaller communities an opportunity to quickly interact with developers. Anyone interested in economic development in the Salem area can find out everything he needs to know about a location he is interested in rather than searching several websites. This is a one-stop shop of economic development information, interactive maps and resources for the community of Salem, Goodman says.
The Local Government Innovation Fund is a competitive statewide program that provides loans and grants to promote shared services and efficiency. Goodman says.
