New Business Filings in Ohio Rise in September
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A total of 6.665 new entities filed to do business in Ohio in September. This number is up from September 2011, when 6,143 new entities filed.
New business filings are classified as forms filed with the Ohio Secretary of State that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships, according to Jon Husted, secretary of state.
The office has assisted with 66,734 new business filings from January through September. This is an increase from the same time period last year, in which there were 63,026 new business filings.
The Secretary of State's office is the first stop for individuals or companies who want to file and start a business in Ohio. Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable or create jobs.
