Main Street Warren Outlines Priorities
WARREN, Ohio – Main Street Warren set an aggressive agenda for 2013 at a special meeting this week where members established priorities and elected new officers.
During the meeting, which took place Jan. 2 at the Sunrise Inn, Mayor Doug Franklin called upon the group to help promote downtown living by putting together a presentation and distributing information regarding rental information for prospective tenants, said Matt Martin, program director for the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, in an advisory distributed to news organizations.
Main Street Warren will act as a welcoming committee for individuals interested in relocating or starting a business within the city, he continued. And the group will update its “business toolbox,” which includes a company roster and information on public, private and nonprofit resources for businesses. In addition, Main Street Warren will work with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership to develop a inventory of downtown commercial and residential space that will be available online at the city’s website.
Main Street Warren will continue to drive the renovation of Dave Grohl Alley, Martin noted. In 2012, nonprofit organization partnered with the Trumbull Art Gallery and TNP to install a mural by Aaron Chine, and raised money to relocate the “World’s Largest Drumsticks” to the alley.
Main Street will also assist the city and Paul Clouser, owner of National Fire and Water Repair, in installing a walk-through connecting the city’s parking deck and Clouser's building to Courthouse Square, Martin said.
George Piscsalko, TNP’s planning and zoning coordinator, was elected the president of Main Street Warren. Greg Bartholomew, 4th Ward councilman, was named vice president; Tami Candella, a local real-estate agent, was named secretary.
