Kachulis Re-elected Chairman of Penn-Northwest
HERMITAGE, Pa. – Lew Kachulis, president of Synergy Comp Insurance Co., Sharon, has been re-elected chairman of Penn-Northwest Development Corp., the lead economic development organization for Mercer County.
Penn-Northwest held its annual meeting Monday night at the Avalon Golf & County Club where Kachulis and the other officers and directors were elected or re-elected.
Elected vice chairmen were Robert Wilson, president and owner of Penn-Ohio Metals, and Mercer County Commissioner Matthew McConnell.
Douglas Riley, chairman of the Mercer County Industrial Development Authority, was elected secretary. John “Chip” Mastrian, president of the Strimbu Memorial Foundation, was elected treasurer. And John “Jack” Janoso, CEO of the Sharon Regional Health System, was elected assistant secretary-treasurer.
Elected directors for three-year terms that expire in 2015 were Eric Frantz, vice president and general manager of CCL Container; David Grande, a vice president and senior business banker at Huntington Bank; Eric Graven, president of Susi Builders Supply; Gary Gulla, assistant city manager for the city of Hermitage; Larry Haynes, president and CEO of the Community Foundation; David Hock, commercial loan officer at Mercer County State Bank; Chuck Jackson, area manager for Penn Power; Janoso; Scott Kalmanek, chief financial officer of Joy Cone Co.; John Longstreet, CEO of Quaker Steak & Lube; Mastrian; Riley; and Edward Winslow, owner of Winslow Engineering.
Elected director to a two-year term expiring in 2014 was Don Owrey, CEO of UPMC Horizon.
Named senior directors were Wilson; Charles Bestwick, director of planning and development at Wesex Corp.; Joseph George, CEO of Joy Cone; Stephen Gurgovits, chairman of the board of directors of F.N.B. Corp.; Oliver Lazor, retired Mercer County commissioner; Lew Martin, Philip Marrie and William Perrine, all retired; and state Rep. Richard Stevenson, R-8 Grove City.
The law firm of Ekker, Kuster, McConnell and Epstein LLP, Sharon, was appointed legal counsel.
Kachulis appointed Kalmanek chairman of the program committee; Doug Thomas, president of Thomas Construction Co., chairman of the sites committee; and Wilson chairman of the nominating committee.
