Eastern Ohio Group Gets $175K Federal Grant
WASHINGTON -- An eastern Ohio organization composed of 10 Ohio counties including Columbiana County was awarded a $174,495 federal grant to develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategy for the region.
Announced by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, the U.S. Economic Development Association grant was to the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association, which coordinates public-private partnerships to develop economic activity in Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum and Tuscarawas counties.
“These federal resources will lay the groundwork for small businesses throughout the eastern Ohio to have a better shot at creating new opportunities and jobs in small towns and rural areas,” Brown said. “Small businesses are essential to our economy, and through this award, local communities and their residents can lead the way in rural economic development.”
The strategic planning process brings together public and private sectors through the creation of an economic development framework that strengthens the economy and creates jobs in the region.
