YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Multiple sources report that Cattron-Theimeg Inc., a Sharpsville, Pa.-based subsidiary of Laird Technologies, will announce this morning that it plans to move its global headquarters and manufacturing operations to Warren (CLICK TO READ UPDATED STORY).
Confirmation is expected to come around 8 a.m., sources say, that Cattron-Theimeg will consolidate operations from three buildings in Sharpsville, Pa., to a single Warren building, believed to be one of the old Delphi buildings. The company manufactures remote-control products and aftermarket services for the mining, commercial, mobile, railroad and other industrial markets. The company considered sites in Ohio and Pennsvlvania.
The company did not respond Wednesday to a request for comment.
In January, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 55%, nine-year job creation tax credit for Cattron-Theimeg, which expects to create 55 full-time equivalent employees and $3 million in payroll in addition to the company’s $9.5 million payroll. The agreement calls for the company to maintain operations at the Warren project location for at least 12 years.
Both the city of Warren and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber expressed their support for the project in letters submitted to the tax credit authority in January.
In 2010, the company was purchased by British-based Laird PLC as part of its technologies division. It also has offices in Canada, China, Brazil and Germany.
