Mill Creek Park Sets Second Hearing on Drilling
CANFIELD, Ohio – The Board of Mill Creek MetroParks has scheduled a second public hearing for Oct. 25 related to oil and gas exploration and its potential impact.
The first public hearing was held Oct. 16 and featured Rhonda Reda, executive director for the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Project.
Reda defended the industry's practices and touted the economic benefits of oil and gas drilling in the Utica shale.
The second hour was reserved for public comment, and all who spoke voiced their opposition to drilling on or near the park.
The Oct. 25 hearing will be held at McMahon Hall at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield from 6 to 8 p.m., and is to include a 30-minute presentation by Guardians of Mill Creek Park and another 30-minute presentation by state Rep. Bob Hagan of Youngstown.
Another hour reserved for public comment will follow.
