Hilcorp Gets Fifth Well Permit for Poland Site
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has awarded a new Utica shale permit to Hilcorp Energy Co. for another horizontal oil and gas well in Poland Township, records show.
The permit, issued on June 17, is the fifth for Hilcorp's Carbon Limestone site in Poland, according to data posted on ODNR's website.
It is also the 20th horizontal permit ODNR has issued for Utica exploration in Mahoning County since 2011. Of that number, Chesapeake Exploration LLC holds 11 permits, CNX Gas holds three and has drilled all of its wells, Halcon Energy Co. holds one permit, and Hilcorp has five, according to ODNR data.
ODNR also issued another permit for Hanover Township in Columbiana County on June 21, records show. The new permit, issued to Chesapeake Exploration, is slated for the Moats property.
Chesapeake secured six new horizontal permits last week: one in Columbiana County, one in Harrison County, and four in Carroll County, ODNR said.
Hess Ohio Resources LLC secured five new permits, four in Harrison County and another in Belmont County. Gulfport Energy Corp. was awarded three permits in Belmont County. Triad Hunter LLC secured a single permit for a well in Monroe County. Hilcorp's sole permit approval last week was for the Poland well.
There were no new permits issued for Lawrence or Mercer counties in Pennsylvania for the week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
