Halcon Gets Permits for Wells in Mahoning, Mercer
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Halcon Operating Co., a division of Halcon Resources, has secured a permit to drill a new horizontal well in Jackson Township in Mahoning County, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Halcon, which is also developing wells in nearby Lordstown Township in Trumbull County, was awarded the permit on April 4 to drill on the Davidson property.
Halcon Operating also secured three new permits to drill horizontal wells in Salem Township, Mercer County, Pa., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Agency data shows that Halcon secured three new permits in April for horizontal wells at the Stevenson pad.
According to public records, since 2011, 17 permits for horizontal wells have been permitted in Mahoning County. Five wells are drilled.
CNX Gas, a division of Consol Energy, drilled two wells on the Cadle farm in Jackson Township, records show. The company has drilled a third well in Ellsworth Township.
ODNR reports that Hilcorp Energy recently drilled a new well in Poland Township, while a fifth well was drilled in 2011 by Chesapeake Energy Corp. in Milton Township. That well was later abandoned.
No new permits were issued for Trumbull County last week, records show.
ODNR issued eight other permits last week, its website shows.
Gulfport Energy Corp. received three permits to drill in Belmont County, Union Township, at the Eagle Creek site, ODNR reports.
Chevron Appalachia secured two permits to drill in Harrison County, Monroe Township, at the Wagner farm, while Chesapeake Exploration LLC -- the most prolific oil and gas explorer in the Utica shale -- obtained three permits to drill new wells in Carroll County, Lee Township, on Enold property.
No new permits issued last week for horizontal wells in Lawrence County, Pa.
