Halcon Gets Permit for New Trumbull County Utica Well
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Halcon Operating Co. Inc. plans to drill a new horizontal well in Trumbull County, according to data provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Halcon, based in Houston, wants to drill in Warren Township at the Lutz property, and was awarded a permit for the work June 10. It's the fifth well Halcon has permitted in the Mahoning Valley.
The company has four wells permitted for Trumbull County and one in Mahoning County, records show.
There were no new permits issued last week for either Mahoning or Columbiana counties, records show.
ODNR issued 25 new permits targeting the Utica shale formation in eastern Ohio last week. As of June 15, 731 horizontal well permits have been issued, 358 wells are drilled, and 102 Utica wells are producing.
Eight permits were issued to Oklahoma City-based Gulfport Energy Corp. Five of those permits are for wells in Belmont County in Somerset Township, while three others are targeting areas in Harrison County, ODNR reports.
Chesapeake Energy Corp., the most active driller in the Utica shale, received six new permits to drill in Carroll County, while Rex Energy Gas Development Co. received five new permits to drill in that county.
Antero Resources Appalachian Corp. was awarded three permits for wells in Noble County, and PDC Energy was issued two permits for new wells in Guernsey County, ODNR reported.
There were no new horizontal permits issued in Mercer or Lawrence counties in western Pennsylvania during the week of June 10, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
