D&L Energy Prepares North Lima Injection Well
NORTH LIMA, Ohio -- D & L Energy Group will begin the final construction phase for a brine injection well in North Lima, Ohio Monday, October 8.
Passersby on Market Street, state Route 7, may notice the temporary installation of a 100-foot tall derrick, said the company's kspokesman, Vince Bevacqua of ShaleComm. This equipment is to assist with improvement plans approved by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, he explained. Those plans consist of removing of bore pipe, which will allow D & L to apply a cement footing to the bottom of the well. This footing will act as a buffer and prevent injected material from entering lower rock formations -- primarily the Precambrian Basin, according to Bevacqua. The bore pipe, which had been maintaining the integrity of the well in preparation for this phase of work, will be re-inserted after the cement floor fully cures and is tested.
The work is expected to take about one week. Per the state’s standard operating procedures for such work, inspectors from the ODNR will be on site to oversee the entire project, Bevacqua said.
ODNR has issued all permits and approvals for this well’s eventual completion and future operations, he noted. No date has been set for the beginning of operations at the North Lima site.
